Welcome to Yarn Beach
I love the beach. I'm also a big space nut, and live near the Kennedy Space Center, one of the most amazing places on earth, so some of the yarn is inspired by space - Star Wars, Star Trek, amazing pictures from Hubble, astronauts, I Dream of Jeannie, and just about everything space related you can think of. I recently dyed some sock yarn the color of freeze-dried ice cream and Tang for one of my neighbors.

Inspiration for yarn colors also come from my teenagers. Our Pirate colorway was created with my kids after a marathon of Pirates of the Carribean and a day spent snorkeling the Dry Tortugas during our last visit to Key West.

Our wool yarn is made in the United States. By that, I mean that it comes from sheep living in the United States, is processed by a mill in the United States, and we dye the yarn in the United States. Our labels are made with recycled paper and we use environmentally friendly shipping materials (except the priority boxes from the US Postal Service - I'm not sure of the origin of the cardboard, glue and ink used to make those boxes). Our business is committed to being environmentally friendly. I walk part of the Canaveral National Seashore each week picking up trash left by humans or that has washed up on the beach, and I don't want my company to add to the growing circle of trash in the ocean.

We are adding a cashmere blend sock yarn and a silk blend sock yarn, and those will be using imported yarn because we were not able to locate a U.S. source for cashmere or silk. As soon as we find a U.S. source for those yarns, we will be switching to that U.S. supplier.
